“EMPOWERING MSES FOR INCLUSIVE GROWTH-STRATEGIES AND INITIATIVES”

The role of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs in reigniting the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation, which remained dormant in the preindependence era and is emerging out of its slumber in the last 60 years. This will not only ensure higher economic growth on the face of global economic crisis but also largely contribute in the national goal of inclusive growth. Developing our human resources by skilling them appropriately will deliver immense demographic dividend for the country. These views have been expressed by Dr. K C Chakrabarty, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India while inaugurating a conference on “Empowering MSEs for Inclusive Growth-Strategies and Initiatives” organized by Central Bank of India on 20th December 2011 to mark the occasion of conclusion of its centenary

year.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri M V Tanksale, Chairman and Managing Director of Central Bank of India expressed that the role of MSMEs is not only crucial for our economic growth but also the key lever for taking the benefits of economic growth to our teeming millions in an inclusive manner.

The conference was attended by more than 500 entrepreneurs from Mumbai and several industry associations. The inaugural session was followed by a panel discussion on the subject participated by Smt Vijayalakshmi R. Iyer - Executive Director, Central Bank of India, Shri Chandrakant Salunkhe – President, SME Chamber of India, Dr. K. Ramakrishnan – Chief Executive, Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), Shri C. D. Srinivasan – CGM - RPCD, Reserve Bank of India, Shri Arun Thukral – MD, Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited, Shri Lakshman Gugulothu  – CEO, BSE SME Exchange and other dignitaries.
