AIBOC CIRCULAR NO. 3 DATED 10.01.2012

AIBOC issued its circular No. 3 dated 10.01.2012 on Executive Committee Meeting held at Kolkata on 17th and 18th of January 2012. We are placing the same here for our readers.

CIRCULAR NO.3                                     DATE: 10.01.2012

TO ALL AFFILIATES /MEMBERS:

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO MEET AT KOLKATA- ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS

The Executive Committee of the All India Bank Offices’ Confederation (AIBOC) will be meeting at Kolkata on 17th and 18th of January, 2012 to deliberate on all the current issues, in particular with reference to the economic scenario and Banking Industry. The opportunity will be utilized to discuss threadbare the challenges that are before us in the coming years. Our strategies to tackle these challenges, be it in the form of threat to the present form of Banking Industry or with a sole objective of dislodging the primacy of the Public Sector character, and to hand it over to the multinationals, who are waiting for an opportunity to enter into the Banking Industry with a view to make use of the huge domestic savings that these banks have garnered for the benefit of the common man of our country.

It is also an opportunity to our leadership, both at the affiliates as well as at the State Units level, to have a definite plan as to the organizational activities that they would suggest for the Confederation to pursue during the current year.  We have a number of issues that are carried forward during the last year and requiring immediate solution to ensure that, the issues that are dear to us in particular the service matter related ones are attended to with utmost sincerity. We have been receiving enquiries from different parts of the country as to our approach towards the various issues that are listed in the agitation programme chalked out under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Unions as well as by the Confederation both with the Indian Banks’ Association and also with the Government of India. The members will be eager to debate on these aspects and to come to a definite action programme.

The economic scenario is yet another major issue that would be slated for discussion. The workforce in the Banking Industry cannot be complacent about the success story they have built during the difficult period of the last 5 years despite the US economic recession. There is a lurking fear in the minds of the planners, the regulators as well as the functionaries working in the Banking Industry that, the impact of the recession cannot be completely overlooked. We may have to adopt an appropriate strategy to anticipate these threats and take care of all those aspects.

The major concern of the entire rank and file as to the future consolidation and solidarity of the movement will be addressed in an effective manner.  We have noticed in the recent past that the vested interests are active to sow the seeds of animosity between different affiliates of the Confederation to break the unity of our movement. We are used to these tactics by the disgruntled elements. We are fully geared up to meet this challenge effectively and march forward with greater vitality and vigor in the days to come.

Our host State Unit in West Bengal is making all arrangements to make this Executive Committee a historic one. Let us look forward for meaningful and purposeful deliberations and resolutions to carry forward the banner of the Confederation to greater heights and glory in the days to come.

We shall keep our membership informed of all developments in due course.

With warm greetings,
Sd/-
(G.D. NADAF)
GENERAL SECRETARY
