Mr. T.Y. Prabhu, Chairman and Managing Director, Oriental Bank of Commerce told E.T. that the bank would hire about 4500 banking professionals in the next three years to drive the bank's growth plan. According to him, the bank is looking at an average growth of 23% both in deposits and credit and to increase its network to 2000 branches from the existing 1453 branches.
The bank is targeting a business of Rs.2 lakh crore in this financial year. It has achieved a business of Rs.1.89 lakh crore as of December 2009 as against Rs.1.56 lakh crore last year. The bank is also examining the potential of opening international branch, which at present has a representative office in Dubai.
