At the current levels of Credit growth, banks will have to lend an additional Rs.3,00,000 crore to attain the projected credit growth of 18% for FY 2010. Even as bankers expect loan demand to perk up in the fourth quarter, sequentially, bank loans ended marginally lower in the third quarter ended December 2009.
As per the bankers, the reason behind the slowdown in the loan offtake is largely because unutilisation of the limits by many corporates.
