2. Com.G.D.Nadaf, General Secretary, AIBOC in his keynote address covered the latest position on industry level issues like salary revision, 2nd Option on Pension, etc. He assured the gathering that, efforts are on by the Confederation, to conclude the wage settlement at the earliest. He also spoke on the peculiar position prevailing in Allahabad Bank as regards Pension issue and their legitimate demand to switch over to industry level pension scheme through 2nd Option on Pension. He hailed the efforts of the All India Allahabad Bank Retired Employees Association in securing judgement from the Hon’ble Supreme Court on the right of employees to receive payment of gratuity under the provisions of the Act, which was deprived by the Management of the Bank under the guise of pension regulations. He expressed his concern that, Management of the Bank is resorting to unilateralism in the matter of bilateral issues like promotion and transfer policy etc. He complimented the workforce for being instrumental in increasing the business of the Bank and their ambition to achieve the target of 2 lac crores of business during the current financial year. There is an acute shortage of staff in the Bank. The officers are forced to sit late and work on Sundays and holidays to cope up with the work pressure. The Confederation will take the demand of regulated working hours for officers; to its logical end during the 9th bipartite negotiations at industry level said Com. Nadaf.
3. The merger and acquisition under the consolidation policy of the Govt. is not suitable to our country. There is a need to expand Banks’ Branches to cater to the need of the rural population. More than 50% of the population are yet to open their accounts in Banks. The present salary package offered by the Govt. is far below our expectations and it will be very difficult for the Banks to retain their newly recruited staff in the Bank, whose compensation system is poor as compared to the Govt. servants.
4. He expressed happiness at the way the General Body was organized and at the involvement of grassroot level membership in the organisational activities and in their support to the Confederation in all aspects.
5. Shri.D.Sarakar, Executive Director of the Bank in his inaugural speech expressed happiness at the smiling faces across the audience. Allahabad Bank is one of the oldest Banks in the country. Officers are giving their best to the Bank through excellent customer service. They started with a business of 196 crores in 1865 and have crossed 1.6 lac crores of business by 31.03.2009. It has the internal strength to grow further. Conservativeness of Public Sector Banks has saved our country from the crisis. He hailed the commitment and loyalty of officers, who work in rural areas sacrificing their family obligations. He expressed his concern on high attrition rate. The Bank will move with its expansion programme, he said. He assured the leadership of the Association, that their issues will be taken care of by the management.
6. Earlier, Shri. Ashwini Kumar, Chief General Manager of Delhi LHO, spoke and appreciated the organisational strength of the employees in development of the Bank business within a short period. Manpower planning is necessary to recruit and retain the young people in the Bank, he said. He was confident of the Bank achieving the magic figure of 2 lac crores business by March 2010.
7. Com.Ananda Rao, President of the Association in his speech, dealt on the ideology of AIBOC i.e, its apolitical nature and being internally lead by serving officers. He called upon the officers to protect the Public Sector in order to serve the underprivileged. While detailing the achievements of the Association during the period, he hoped that the Management will resolve their pending demands on priority basis. For implementation of CBS he pleaded that the internal talent be used. He also said that bonafide decisions be protected from accountability angle. The incentive scheme requires a review. However, he assured all possible assistance from the Association in achieving the target set by the Management.
8. Com.K.K.Dogra, General Secretary of the Association, in his vote of thanks, raised the issue of payment of gratuity by the Bank without resorting to legal actions. Earlier, a press meet was addressed by the General Secretary of the Confederation. In the delegate session on 21.02.2010, General Secretary’s report was adopted and several resolutions were passed. Com. Nirmal Bari and Com. K.K.Dogra have been elected as President and General Secretary of the Association for the Triennial period 2010-2013. We congratulate and wish them all the best in their endeavours. The entire programme was well planned. The delegates/observers were enthusing the dignitaries on the dais by frequently raising of slogans and applause. It is another feather in the cap of the AIABOA.
