AIBOC CIRCULAR NO. 49 DATED 18.05.2011

AIBOC issued its circular No. 49 dated 18.05.2011 on the negative response of Federal Bank’s management. We are reproducing the same here for our readers.

CIRCULAR NO.49                                                             18.05.2011

TO ALL AFFILIATES/MEMBERS:

MANAGEMENT’S RESPONSE NEGATIVE - ALL INDIA FEDERAL BANK STRIKE - 19TH & 20TH MAY, 2011 - AIBOC KERALA JOINS STRIKE ON 20TH MAY, 2011

The unjustified dismissal of Com.V.K.Prasad, President, Federal Bank Officers’ Association and State Secretary of AIBOC had evoked widespread and spontaneous protests among the Federal and the entire bank officer's fraternity across the country irrespective cadre. One-day All India Federal Bank strike held on 26th April, 2011 was total. Following it, negotiations were held on 3rd May, 2011. As a result, all action programmes were deferred upto 12th May, trusting on the sense of justice of the Management. But to our rude shock, Management has come out with a strong denial of our demand. The adamant stand of the Management, against his re-instatement shattered all our hopes in the bilateral efforts to resolve the issue amicably.

An urgent Executive Committee of the FBOA, which met on Saturday 14th May 2011, took stock of the latest situation and found that there is no alternative but to strike back to the high-handedness of the Management. It is decided to hold two days of all India Federal Bank Strike on 19th & 20th May 2011. AIBOC Kerala State Committee, which met on the same day, also decided to join the strike on 20th May, 2011.

Comrades, we are placed in a driven-to-wall situation and the industrial relations in Federal Bank are fast deteriorating.  The agitation has been forced on us by the Management. We have made all-out efforts to resolve the issue and are still open for discussions for arriving at a fair and reasonable settlement. Our stand is loud and clear that we only want justice in this case and it is nothing short of the reinstatement of Com. V K Prasad. We are sure that, we will come out successful.

We request all our affiliates to extend fraternal support to the strike and participate in demonstrations organised by the FBOA.

With warm greetings,
Sd/-
(G.D. NADAF)
