It was a grand show of unity and solidarity amongst the members of the Federal Bank Officers’ Association, ably supported by the affiliates of AIBOC and State Units all over the country which saw the success of one day lightning token strike call given by the leadership of the Federal Bank Officers’ Association in protest against the vindictive action of the Management of the Bank in dismissing the State Secretary of Kerala State Unit. To-day the branches and offices of the Federal Bank all over the country remained closed due to the massive struggle launched by the Officers in the Bank. The members not only responded in a swift manner but also expressed their total solidarity and unity with solemn support to continue the bitter struggle to ensure the withdrawal of the dismissal order issued by the management.
Comrades, we have received reports from all parts of the country that the Strike was total in Federal Bank. The issue of the dismissal order served on one of our militant leaders spread like wild fire all over the country, and there were anxious enquiries as to the organizational position and direction from the State Units as well as the affiliates on continuous basis. The efforts made by the leadership of the Association to resolve the issue having failed, a decision was taken to go ahead with the lightning strike. The Confederation issued instructions to all the State Units and affiliates to jump into action and they were advised to send protest telegrams to the Managing Director of the Bank. The State Units all over the country along with the leadership of the affiliates of the Confederation took active part in the massive demonstrations organized at all the State Head quarters to-day and also sent protest telegrams to the Head Office of Federal Bank, Aluva urging upon the Management to withdraw the dismissal order in the interest of industrial peace in the Banking Industry.
Com.G.D.Nadaf, the General Secretary of the Confederation, immediately on receipt of the information about these developments took personal initiative and advised the leadership of the Federal Bank that the entire Bank Officers’ fraternity will oppose tooth and nail the vindictive action of the Management of Federal Bank and will extend total support to the striking members in the Federal Bank. He also visited the Head Quarters of the Federal Bank in Aluva today and addressed the massive gathering after the militant demonstrations by the entire membership of the Federal Bank as well as the members of all the affiliates of the Confederation. He also assured the striking members, all the support and cautioned the Management to retrace their steps to avoid the industrial unrest spreading to the entire banking industry.
A meeting took place with the Management of the Federal Bank and the leadership of the Confederation. On behalf of the Confederation Com.G.D.Nadaf, General Secretary accompanied by Com.P.V.Mathew, General Secretary of Federal Bank Officers’ Association and also the Senior Vice-President, AIBOC participated in the meeting. The leadership of the Confederation expressed their resentment over the manner in which Com.V.K.Prasad, the President of FBOA and also the State Secretary, AIBOC (Kerala State ) has been victimized by the Management of Federal Bank on flimsy grounds. On behalf of Management of Federal Bank, Sarvashri. Shyam Srinivasan, CEO and Managing Director and T.S.Jagadeesan, the Chief General Manager participated in the meeting.
The meeting was inconclusive since the Management sought further time to respond to the demand of the Confederation.
Comrades, the first round of the struggle is a grand success. There will be two days strike on 2nd and 3rd May, 2011 by the Federal Bank Officers and one day protest strike by AIBOC State Unit of Kerala on 3rd May, 2011. Massive demonstration and Dharana are also planned on 29th April 2011; a day on which Bank’s Board is scheduled to meet; in front of Head Office of Federal Bank. The Executive Committee of Federal Bank Officers’ Association will meet on 27th May 2011, to chalk out further course of action. We need to keep ourselves in readiness to enlarge the struggle in case there is no positive response from the Management of Federal Bank to the successful strike put through by our colleagues in Federal Bank. Hence, all our affiliates/State Units are requested to be in readiness to launch further struggles in due course.
All our affiliates/State Units are requested to await further developments in this regard
