AIBOC CIRCULAR NO. 46 DATED 03.05.2011

AIBOC issued its circular No. 46 dated 03.05.2011 on the agitation in Federal Bank. We are reproducing the same here for our readers.

CIRCULAR NO.46                                                                 DATE: 03.05.2011

TO ALL AFFILIATES /MEMBERS:
AGITATION IS ON - FEDERAL BANK OFFICERS CONTINUE THEIR STRUGGLE - STATE UNIT OF AIBOC DECIDES TO EXTEND FRATERNAL SUPPORT - STRIKE ACTION PLANNED ON 2ND AND 3RD MAY, 2011 WAS POSTPONED TO CREATE A CONGENIAL ATMOSPHERE
We are happy to inform all our members, the successful implementation of one day strike action on 26.04.2011 by members in Federal Bank, supported by the affiliates of AIBOC, created an all round sympathy for the striking members of Federal Bank.  During the course of discussions with the Management by the undersigned along with Com.P.V.Mathew on 26.04.2011, the Management expressed its willingness to settle the issues raised by our affiliate to find an amicable solution for the burning issue of dismissal order served on Com.V.K.Prasad, President of FBOA and Secretary of the State Unit of AIBOC.

We have been receiving highly encouraging reports from all parts of the country about the total participation of our Officers in the Federal Bank in the strike action of the Association. We are also receiving reports from our affiliates and State Units confirming their participation at the local level demonstrations and also confirmation for having sent protest telegrams to the Management of Federal Bank as per our directives. We are over whelmed with these responses and would like to ensure that there is a positive settlement. We would resort to further agitation, only if the Management takes adamant stand.

Com.G.D.Nadaf, General Secretary is in constant touch with the Management of Federal Bank as to their proposal for resolving the sensitive issue of the Dismissal Order. The representatives of the Management expressed that, the two days strike on 2nd and 3rd May, 2011 proposed by the Federal Bank Officers’ Association and protest strike by State Unit of Kerala on 3rd May 2011 should be deferred, in order to create a congenial atmosphere for negotiations. While, agreeing to the requests of the Management, to enable both the parties to arrive at a positive settlement, the proposed strike of FBOA deferred to 5th & 6th May, 2011. In the meanwhile, the State Committee of AIBOC met on 01.05.2011 and endorsed the decision of the Federal Bank Officers’ Association and also decided to participate in the strike for a day on 6th May 2011, instead of 3rd May 2011, for extending fraternal support by the affiliates of the Confederation in Kerala State.

The Management of the Federal Bank was advised by the leadership of the Confederation to continue their dialogue with the leadership of the Federal Bank Officers’ Association to find a suitable proposal for the purpose of ending the current agitation and bringing back normalcy in the Bank without sacrificing the interest of our organisation.

Comrades, we are happy with the developments and hope that the issue may be resolved amicably in the interest of both the parties. In the meanwhile, we request all our members to have patience and not to be influenced by the various mischievous rumours that may be spread to defuse the tempo created by our affiliate as well as the State Unit all over the country. The Confederation is fully behind the negotiations that are taking place between the Management and Officers’ Association of Federal Bank under the leadership of Com.P.V.Mathew, General Secretary of the Association and also the Senior Vice-President of the Confederation. The undersigned will join in negotiation with the Federal Bank Management, to-day.

We note to keep our members informed of further developments in the matter. All our affiliates/members are requested to have patience and await for the outcome.

With warm greetings,
Sd/-
(G.D. NADAF)
GENERAL SECRETARY
