AIBOC CIRCULAR NO. 40 DATED 25.04.2011

AIBOC issued its circular No. 40 dated 25.04.2011 on the high handed action of the Federal Bank’s management. We are reproducing the same here for our readers.

CIRCULAR NO.40                                                   DATE: 25.04.2011

TO ALL AFFILIATES /MEMBERS:

MANAGEMENT OF FEDERAL BANK – HIGH HANDED ACTION - VICTIMIZATION OF COM.V.K.PRASAD, PRESIDENT, FEDERAL BANK OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION AND SECRETARY, AIBOC KERALA STATE UNIT

We are shocked to learn from our leaders from the Federal Bank about the High Handed Action of the Management of their Bank in dismissing the services of Com.V.K.Prasad, one of our most militant leader from the State of Kerala who use to be in forefront in fighting against the atrocities of the Management of the Private Sector  Banks including the attempt to hand over the various private banks in the State of Kerala to the industrial houses/multinationals.  He led several struggles during the forced take over the Lord Krishna Bank and its subsequent merger with the new Generation Private Sector Bank.  He was also staunch opponent of globalization moves of the banking sector with particular reference to the Old Generation Private Sector Banks.

The Management has presumably on the advise of certain vested interests  who are inimical to the strong trade union measures adopted by him, resorted to issuance of Charge Sheet on certain procedural irregularities in regard to the sanction of housing loan, purchase of cheques etc., and quickly decided to impose upon him the severest  punishment of dismissal.  It has come as a rude shock to the entire rank and file across the State of Kerala.  The State Unit of Kerala and as also the Federal Bank Officers’ Association has decided to launch a strong struggle against these measures by the Management of the Federal Bank and to demand for immediate withdrawal of the orders issued on Com. Prasad.

Accordingly, the Federal Bank Officers’ Association under the leadership Com.P.V.Mathew, General Secretary of Federal Bank Officers’ Association,   Senior Vice President of the Confederation  and the General Secretary of the All India Private Sector Bank Officers’ Federation a wing of the AIBOC, has called for observance of lightening strike on 26th April 2011 in Federal Bank  through out  the country. They are also observing Black Day to day and massive demonstrations were held before the Head Office of Federal Bank.  The General Secretary of the Confederation along with other senior leaders from the Confederation are expected to visit the City of Ernakulam on strike day and participate in the demonstration.

In the meanwhile, we request all our Affiliates/State Units to keep themselves in readiness for immediate action at short notice on the burning issue of the dismissal of our leader from the State of Kerala.  We also request all our affiliates/State Units to ensure that a large number of members participate in the  demonstrations that are being planned by our affiliates in  the Federal Bank and also the leadership of the State Units will take all necessary steps to ensure the presence of large number of our members in all such demonstrations.  They are also requested to fax a protest letter to the Management of the Federal Bank on the subject.  The text of the letter is furnished below:

VICTIMIZATION OF COM.V.K.PRASAD, PRESIDENT OF FEDERAL BANK OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION AND ASST. GENERAL SECRETARY OF AIBOC

We strongly protest against the un justified dismissal order passed on Com.V.K.Prasad, the Senior Manager of Federal Bank, who is also President of Federal Bank Officers’ Association and  the Secretary of State Unit of AIBOC (Kerala State) as an attempt to undermine the strength of the Association and  State Unit of AIBOC in Kerala State.  The Management has resorted to this move with an ulterior motive of blunting our struggle against the defense of the Private Sector Banks under his leadership in the State of Kerala.  The Management should immediately withdraw the Dismissal Order served on him in the interest of the Bank and  to avoid the industrial unrest spreading across the State as well as the industry as a whole in the matter.
Please treat the matter as urgent.

PRESIDENT                                                             GENERAL SECRETARY

All our Affiliates/State Units are requested to send copies of these telegrams to the Central Office of the Confederation as well as to the Federal Bank Officers’ Association at the following address.

We have also addressed a communication to the Management of the Federal Bank on the subject.  A copy of the same is enclosed.

Comrades, this is a serious issue involving a bitter battle, if need be.  Hence, we appeal to all our members across the country to be in readiness to jump into action at a short notice.

Dear Sir,

DISMISSAL ORDER PASSED AGAINST COM.V.K.PRASAD, PRESIDENT, FEDERAL BANK OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION AND  SECREARY, AIBOC (KERALA STATE UNIT )

We are shocked to learn the vindictive action  against Com. V.K.Prasad, our leader from the State of Kerala who was responsible for several struggles in defense of the interest of the Private Sector Banks in the entire southern region.  He was also known for his aggressive opposition against the take over attempts of the various industrial house of the old generation private sector banks in the recent past in the State of Kerala.  We are surprised that the Management of the Bank has taken in a very casual manner  ordering an enquiry on certain procedural lapses and  housing loan accounts and their transactions has resorted to such an extreme step knowingly well that the Officer is known for his integrity and honesty. He has protected the interest of the Bank and there is no financial loss to the Bank. The rank and file across the State of Kerala as well as the entire country perceives these actions on the part of the Management of Federal Bank as an attempt to undermine the trade union struggles of the Officers’ movement against the handing over of the Private Sector Banks to some of the industrial houses as well as the multinationals.

We have been receiving anxious enquiries from the nook and corner of the country about the victimization of our leader from the Federal Bank.   As a mark of protest, our colleagues from the Federal Bank have already decided to launch a bitter struggle with the commencement of a lightening strike on 26th April 2011 all over the country.  All our affiliates from the Confederation as well as the State Units are resorting to protest action and demonstrations and will be forced to join the struggle in case the issue remains unresolved.

We, therefore urge upon you to kindly withdraw the Dismissal Order served on Com.V.K.Prasad, in the interest of the industrial peace in the Federal Bank and as also to avoid the same spreading to the banking industry as a whole.

Please treat the matter as most urgent

Yours faithfully,
Sd/-
