Indian banks on Friday raised Rs 3.5 billion via certificates of deposit (CDs), Thomson Reuters data showed.
Central Bank of India raised Rs 3.25 billion by selling three-month notes yielding 7 per cent. Federal Bank raised Rs 250 million. The yield on the three-month Reuters CD benchmark rose to 6.90 per cent from Thursday's 6.85 per cent, and secondary volumes fell to Rs 2.3 billion from Rs 3.85 billion.
Banks had issued CDs worth Rs 3.9 billion on Thursday. For the week to August 13, total CD issuance amounted to Rs 33.4 billion compared with Rs 40.8 billion a week earlier.
