ANDHRA BANK EMPLOYEES STRIKE WORK

The business and transactions in about 1,550 branches of Andhra Bank was hit today as its officers and workmen went on strike.

About 15,000 officers and workmen of Andhra Bank went on strike in response to a call given by the members of All India Andhra Bank Officers Federation and All Indian Andhra Bank Award Employees Union.

The strike call was given in protest against ‘anti-business' and ‘anti-employee' policies of the management.

“If the management do not come forward to settle our demands, the agitation will further be intensified. This will include three-day strike during September 28-Oct 1, 2010,” Mr K Ramakoteswara Rao, General Secretary of the All India Andhra Bank Officers Federation, said in a release.
