Over 15,000 officers and workmen of Andhra Bank plan to strike work on August 18.
The proposed strike is part of a joint agitation launched by the All India Andhra Bank Officers' Federation (AIBOC) and the All India Andhra Bank Award Employees Union (AIBEA), Mr K. Ramakoteswara Rao, General Secretary, AIBOC, told newspersons here on Monday.
“The agitation is being launched to protest against anti-business and unfair HR practices, including unilateral alteration of existing service conditions of employees, among others,” he said.
The management was resorting to large-scale disciplinary proceedings for certain commissions and omissions which were de-motivating, he said.
Wage revision arrears were not handed over to the staff and were appropriated to staff loan accounts without intimating them, he added.
Second round
According to Mr T. Ravindranath, General Secretary, AIBEA, there will be a second round of strikes between September 28 and October 1.
The proposed strike is likely to impact work in over 1,550 Andhra Bank branches across the country.
