CIRCULAR NO.77                                  Date: 2nd August, 2011

TO ALL AFFILIATES/MEMBERS:

SOCIAL SERVICE ACTIVITY BY THE WOMENS’ WING OF AIBOC, KARNATAKA STATE UNIT  AT THE “HOME OF HOPE”

It was not just a social service activity.  It was beyond.  An eye opener.  There are, still, a few mortals who rise above the earthly desires and the materialistic world and reach out to the needy, totally hidden from the glare of media and publicity, born to blush and bloom unseen… He was certainly no Saint! No Reformer ! No… Nothing.  On the contrary, he had a criminal past, and was an illiterate with a degree of mere 3rd standard fail.  This Noble Soul is called “Auto Raja”

As a child, he was neglected.  Born in a slum, he lived in hunger and poverty.  Ran away from the house into a criminal world.  Was jailed many times for theft and robbery.  One day, he met someone who instilled sense into his head.  He started driving an Auto.  It was during one of his drives, he noticed people dying on the roads-unattended, mired in filth, dirt, covered by worms, disease and stink.  Others would have ran a mile away. This man stopped his auto, lifted such unfortunate souls brought out them home, cleaned them, provided medical treatment and shelter.  His home became too small to house the increasing number of such cases.  Some kind hearted organization donated land.  It was here that he built the “HOME OF HOPE”.  Today it has grown into a large organization.  Spread over three centers, housing more than 300 inmates.  Even now, “Auto Raja” wanders through the streets of Bangalore, picks up such sick people lying on the roads, personally lifts them, brings them, cleans them, provides medical care and takes care of such unfortunate people.  Many of them die.  He gives them an honourable funeral.  Takes care of all the legal issues.  He lives with them with his wife and children.  That is his home.  That is their hope.  The glitter in their eyes and the smile of happiness is the only solace, the only reward that he gets.  This is his life, which revolves around taking care of such unfortunate victims.  Many of them are mentally retarded, HIV patients, dying patients, children, women, old… all of them are taken care of and very well.  That is his world…. The Home of hope. No government Aid at all.  But a few kind hearted people and orgnaisations lend a helping hand to run this organization.

The Women’s Wing of AIBOC, Karnataka Sate Unit collected used cloths and money from all the constituents and donated to the Home of Hopes on 17/07/2011.  The Confederation also donated Rice and Provision to them. This was a kind, laudable and noble gesture by our Lady comrades who took the initiative. The occasion was graced by Com. G.D. Nadaf, General Secretary, AIBOC, Com. B.S. Ravindra, Secretary AIBOC(K), Com. Harish Padiyar, General Secretary of UBOA(K), Com. Pushpa Kumar, Com. Vijaya Khatavate and other leaders of Women’s Wing of Karnataka State Unit.
For AIBOC  and the Womens’ Wing, especially, and for those  who spared time to visit the place, it was a most `satisfying day’ a `blessed day’- An ` Eye opener’.  We compliment all of them.

Long live humanity……Long live Love and compassion for the underprivileged……….
With greetings,
Sd/
(G.D. NADAF)
GENERAL SECRETARY
