AIBOC DECIDES TO SUPPORT ANTI-CORRUPTION AGITATION LAUNCHED BY SRI. ANNA HAZARE
The veteran Gandhian Sri Anna Hazare, launched an agitation against corruption prevailing in the Government, among the politicians, bureaucrats, Civil Servants etc. The deep rooted corruption among the people holding reigns if this country needs to be rooted out, as the same has tarnished the image of the country and we are branded as the most corrupt nation in the world. Corruption at all levels of administration has impeded the planned growth of the country. The corrupt are ruling the roost day and they are grabbing as much as they can. The corrupt, unscrupulous, tax-evaders, money launderers are having a field day and this has resulted in yawning gaps between the rich and the poor, the haves and have nots. The poor are getting poorer, the rich richer leading to denial of the fruits of economic progress to the poor and the underprivileged. If our country has to emerge as an Economic Super Power, corruption at all levels should be weeded out and the people indulging in corruption, howsoever highly they are placed, should be booked and awarded with exemplary punishment. Hence, the veteran Gandhian has been campaigning for a strong and powerful Lokpal and passage of Lokpal Bill within a timer frame.
The Working Committee of All India Bank Officers’ Confederation has unanimously resolved to support the agitation launched by Sri. Anna Hazare,. We call upon all our affiliates, State Units, Members to wholeheartedly support the anti-corruption agitation.
A copy of the Resolution is enclosed herewith for your reference and necessary action.

AIBOC SUPPORTS ANTI CORRUPTION AGITATION LAUNCHED BY SRI.ANNA HAZARE
All India Bank Officers’ Confederation at its Working Committee Meeting held at Mumbai on 29th June 2011, took stock of the current agitation against corruption launched by the Veteran Gandhian, Sri. Anna Hazare and resolved unanimously to support the agitation.
Corruption in Public life has achieved menacing proportions and has become all pervading, eating into the vitals of our society, tarnishing the image of the country in the eyes of foreigners. We have to bow down our heads in shame, when we are branded as the most corrupt state in the World and we are ranked as 5th most corrupt country in the World. In the race to grab as much as you can, the politicians, bureaucrats, civil servants, judicial officers, have been indulging in corrupt practices to get-rich-quick and amass wealth. This corrupt system has impeded our planned development, deprived the poor the underprivileged and the downtrodden of their legitimate share in the progress of the country. This has led to ever widening gaps between the haves and have not’s, the rich and the poor. While the country is boasting of emergence of multi billionaires in the country through means, both fair and foul, the number of people below the poverty line is increasing by leaps and bounds. This is the direct consequence of the rampant corruption in all walks of life.
Therefore, if the country has to emerge as a super power among the comity of nations, we have to root out corruption from our society. In this background, the agitation launched by Sri.Anna Hazare and likeminded people has come not a day too late and the Working Committee has unanimously resolved to support the agitation launched by Sri.Anna Hazare. All the members of our Confederation numbering about 2.50 lac, will whole heartedly support the agitational programmes to eradicate corruption from our society, punish the corrupt, the money launderers, black marketers etc. As a first step in this direction the formation of the office of the Lokpal and passing of a comprehensive Lokpal Bill, covering the high and mighty, including the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice, High Court Judges, Civil Servants, Parliament Members, Union Ministers etc.
We deplore the attitude of the Central Government for showing scant regard to the feelings of the agitators to frame the Lokpal Bill covering the Prime Minister, the Supreme Court Judges etc. The Government should not forget that in a democracy the voice of the people needs to be respected otherwise the agitation will snowball into a whirlwind which will be capable of toppling the Government. We hope wise counsel prevails on the Govt. and they will do their best to initiate Measures to root out corruption from our society and pass a comprehensive Lokpal Bill, enabling the Lokpal with enormous powers, teeth to nab the corrupt and punish them to usher into a society free from corruption.
