29TH GENERAL BODY MEETING OF FEDERAL BANK OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION

Inaugural session of the 29th General Body Meeting of Federal Bank Officers’ Association was held on Sunday the 9th October, 2011 at Earnakulam, in a grand manner. The session commenced immediately after hosting of the flag, under thunderous applause and raising the slogans by the enthusiastic comrades of FBOA.

Com. P.V. Mathew, General Secretary, FBOA, after invocation, welcomed the guests of the gathering. He placed before the audience the challenges before the trade unions in the banking industry in general and old generation private sector banks in particular.

Shri. T.M. Jacob, Hon’ble Minister, Civil Supplies and Registration Government of Kerala inaugurated the conference by lighting the lamp. In his inaugural speech appreciated the role played by Federal Bank and all other Public Sector Banks in extending excellent service to the people of the country. He advised the members to be united to face the challenges.

Shri. Abraham Chacko, Executive Director, Federal Bank was guest of honour. He said that, officers are back bone of the Federal Bank. He appreciated FBOA for its welfare activities like, Engineering Collage, Housing projects, Guest Houses and Social welfare activities etc,. He briefed at length on the vision 2015 of the Bank and sought cooperation from the officers. One of the vision is to became number one best bank with its presence at international level.

Com. G.D. Nadaf, General Secretary, AIBOC in has key note address, appreciated   the FBOA for its various activities and extending its support to the activities of the Confederation. He dwelt on the issues of 5th August 2011 strike and further programmes chalked out by the UFBU. He reiterated the stand of the Confederation on outsourcing and contract employment in the banking industry and requested the management of the Federal Bank to avoid recruitment of staff on contract basis. He urged upon the government to nationalize old generation private sector banks.

Com. P.D. Bousaly, President FBOA in his presidential address demanded better medical facilitates to the pensioners. He paid rich tribute to the Confederation for achieving 2nd Option on Pension along with 17.5% increase in salary and allowance during 9th Bipartite.

The meritorious wards of staff were felicitated with cash awards. Com. P.V.S. Pillai, President of AIBOC, Kerala State Unit, Com. K.D. Verghese, General Secretary of South Indian Bank Officers’ Association, Com. P.P. Verghese, General Secretary of Federal Bank Employees Union spoke and extended their felicitations. Com. Paul, P. Chakiath proposed vote of thanks.

Com. V.K. Prasad, former President, FBOA was bid farewell. Com. G.D. Nadaf, General Secretary, Com. P.V.S. Pillai, Com. P.V. Mathew. Com. P.D. Bousaly spoke on the occasion and placed on record the service rendered by Com. Prasad to the FBOA as President and AIBOC Kerala State Unit as Secretary. Com. Prasad respond to the farewells. 

In the business session, General Secretary report along with accounts and resolutions were adopted. The new team of office bearers was installed. It was one of the memorable conference of the Federal Bank Officers’ Association. We compliment Com. P.D. Bousaly and Com. P.V. Mathew for the success of the Confederation.
