AIBOC CIRCULAR NO. 26 DATED 05.03.2010

AIBOC issued its circular No. 26 on Social Welfare Activities undertaken by AIBOC. We are reproducing the same here.

CIRCULAR NO.26                              05.03.2010

TO ALL AFFILIATES/MEMBERS:

SOCIAL WELFARE ACTIVITIES

One of the subjects which came up for discussion in the meeting of the Executive Committee of All India Bank Officers’ Confederation held on 17th February 2010 at Panjim:Goa, was the need for stepping up of our ‘Social Welfare Activities’ as part of our response to the needs of the society at large as enunciated in our by-laws.  Our members may recollect that the Confederation had created history during the last bipartite when it could ensure a good settlement and also 100% D.A. neutralisation for the Officers’ fraternity.  It was then decided that the membership should be approached for a liberal contribution by way of levy for the purpose of creating a corpus and utilize a part of it for the advancement of the social objectives. Accordingly, the Confederation had set up a ‘Social Welfare Trust’ with a view to take up social welfare activities and also to increase the visibility of the organisation.  It was also decided to transfer 25% of the levy collected to the Trust account.  Accordingly, Trust was formed and registered on 13.02.2006 (Please refer our Circular No.15 of 17th February, 2006). An amount of 21/- lacs was transferred to the Trust for the purpose. Thereafter, as there were several challenges before the Confederation including the threat of merger of banks, the de-unionization efforts of the Management, the financial reforms etc., the work connected with the Social Welfare Trust receded to the backseat.  It is in this background the members of the Executive Committee took a special interest and raised the issue of now taking up the noble task.
The trust was registered in the name of ‘AIBOC’s Social Welfare Trust” with the Head Quarters at Bangalore. As per the Trust Deed, the Confederation has to nominate 8 members from the organisation. Now onwards we have to strive to make the Trust function effectively and meaningfully by embarking upon various activities benefiting the society at large with particular emphasis on Trade Union related issues.
We also propose that the trust should come out with a definite plan of action during the Silver Jubilee Celebrations, as part of the Social Welfare activities and make it a grand success. The Sub-Committee set up for the purpose of preparing a blue print for the Silver Jubilee Celebrations will be discussing the details about the social welfare activities as well; and synchronize the same along with the Silver Jubilee Celebrations in order to get a better mileage to the Confederation.
All our affiliates and State Units are requested to await further developments in the matter.
With greetings,
Sd/-
(G.D. NADAF)
GENERAL SECRETARY
