CIRCULAR NO:136                                 9th October, 2010

TO ALL AFFILIATES/MEMBERS:

SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS OF STATE UNIT OF KARNATAKA HELD ON 6TH OCTOBER, 2010

The Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation is underway all over the country, culminating into a grand finale on 22nd and 23rd October, 2010 at New Delhi.  After the glorious saga unfolded on 6th of October, 1985 at Delhi, the AIBOC has grown into a pioneer in the financial sector and led the Trade Union Movement of Supervisory Cadre in the country like a colossus, spreading and taking roots in every nook and corner of India. Rightly so, 6th of October, the birthday of the great organisation was celebrated by the Karnataka State Unit of AIBOC in a befitting manner, at Bangalore.

Com.B.S.Ravindra, Secretary of the State Unit, welcomed the comrades and the guests; He said that because of the CommonWealth Games at Delhi the Silver Jubilee function of AIBOC scheduled on 6th October, 2010 has been postponed to 23rd of October 2010. Therefore, symbolically, in order to commemorate the pious moment, the celebration is being held in Karnataka, the land of great warriors of trade union movement. He welcomed the string of guests; Com.G.D.Nadaf, Com.K.R.S.Murthy, Com.Gururaja Rao, Com.T.Jagannath Hegde, Com.K.K.Ghosh, Com.K.Dinakar, Com.Ranjan Shetty, Com. G.Shivaram Alva, Com.G.A.Kinal, Com.Harish Padiyar, Com.Pushpa.G.Kumar, Com.Vijaya Khatavate and a host of other leaders who had assembled in large numbers.

The guests then lit the lamp and set the tone for the Silver Jubilee Celebrations. Later a huge and delicious Silver Jubilee Cake was cut and distributed amongst all the comrades, present reminiscing the sweet memories of the glorious moments of struggle.

Thereafter, Comrade Shivaram Alva, Chairman, Vijaya Bank Officers Assn, Com.K.K.Ghosh, General Secretary, Corporation Bank Officers’ Organisation, Com.Kinal, Vice President, Syndicate Bank Officers’ Assn, Com.Harish Padiyar, General Secretary, Union Bank Officers Assn, Karnataka Unit,  Com.Pushpa.G.Kumar Secretary, All India Women’s Wing of AIBOC, Com.Jagannath Hegde, former President of Vijaya Bank Officers, Assn, Com.K.R.S.Murthy, All India Vice President of Canara Bank Officers Assn, Com.Gururaja Rao, President of ABOA, Mysore Unit, Com.Vijaya Khatavate, Secretary, Karnataka State Women’s Wing of AIBOC, spoke on the occassion and offered their felicitations and good wishes.

As Com.G.D.Nadaf, General Secretary, rose to speak, there was a thunderous applause.  He congratulated the Karnataka State Unit for their activities and said that we are lucky to celebrate the occassion, on foundation day of the Confederation on dot, at this historical venue.

He said that, the last few years have been extremely trying but equally satisfying.  On the Silver Jubilee occassion, we can look back with satisfaction at the recently clinched critical and major issues like the Second Option on Pension, enhancement in gratuity ceiling, a very good wage revision etc. The benefits of the package of wage revision and second option on pension are far beyond statistical projections and beyond our imagination.  Moreover, it is a sentimental issue, which has given solace to many comrades in the industry. There are a few associated issues with regard to 2nd Option on Pension which are being pursued effectively.  All these and the achievements of the past, resulting in the strengthening of the movement and catapulting the image of AIBOC to unprecedented heights, requires celebrations. Rightly, we had decided to celebrate through various Social service activities all over the country by the various affiliates, culminating into a grand function at New Delhi on 23rd October, 2010 including a National Seminar on ‘Impact of Globalisation on Trade Union Movement’ on 22nd October, 2010 and felicitation of the warriors of the past, responsible for bringing the movement this far.  He also touched upon the various activities of historical ‘Vagamon Conclave’ of General Secretaries and the ‘Sehore Conclave’ of Presidents and AI-Power programmes for second line leadership.  He dwelt at length on the various activities of AIBOC and the NATURE and said that the 100th Programme of NATURE will be conducted at Bangalore on 18th & 19th December 2010, in a grand manner. He called upon on the State Units to strengthen itself so as to induce militancy and vibrancy at the grass root level. He also said that the 9th Triennial General Body to be held at Bhubaneshwar has to be a grand success and requested all the affiliates to ensure payment of arrears of subscription and levy at the earliest. He congratulated Com. B.S.Ravindra for strengthening the Karnataka State Unit and making it a very active unit.

Com.B.S.Ravindra, the State Secretary organised the programme in an excellent manner in a very short span of time.  The members of the state unit gathered in large numbers and made the event a grand success.

Com.K.Nagaraj Shastry, Secretary, AISBOF proposed the vote of thanks.  The programme concluded with National Anthem.

With greetings,
Sd/-
(G.D. NADAF)
GENERAL SECRETARY
