CIRCULAR NO: 118                                     DATE: 09.08.2010

TO ALL AFFILIATES/MEMBERS:

AIBOC DEMANDS UPGRADATION OF GOA AS MAJOR “A” CENTRE

One of the issues that came up for discussions in the Executive Committee of the Confederation is the review of the present classification of Goa and to upgrade the same into Major “A” for the purpose of payment of all allowances, considering the high cost of living and the burden that is being faced by our Officers in the State of Goa. We have to-day sent a communication to the Chairman, IBA, Mumbai accordingly.  A copy of our communication is enclosed.

With greetings,

To,
The Chairman,
The Indian Banks’ Association,
World Trade Centre,
MUMBAI – 400 020.

Dear Sir,

UPGRADATION IN CLASSIFICATION OF GOA AS A MAJOR “A” CENTRE FOR THE PURPOSE OF HRA, CCA ETC.,

The Executive Committee of the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation which met at Mumbai on 30th and 31st July 2010, had an occasion to debate on the issue of upgradation of Goa as a ‘Major A’ Centre for the purpose of payment of HRA, CCA etc., The population of Goa is now stands at 13 lacs.  The State of Goa is considered as a very costly place and the standard of living is also very high causing a dent in the pockets of the Bank Officers’ fraternity in comparison with other cities. It is also a tourist centre. The house rent is very high.  It is in this background, the members of the Executive Committee were of the unanimous view that the IBA should upgrade the classification of Goa as ‘Major A’ Centre for the purpose of all allowances in order to provide necessary relief to our officers who are groaning under high cost of living.

We therefore request you to kindly take necessary initiative and issue suitable instructions to all the banks upgrading the classification of Goa as suggested by us.

Please treat the matter as urgent.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
Sd/-
