AIBOC
issued its circular No. 91 dated 17.12.2012 on the strike on 20th December 2012
to be observed by AIBEA and BEFI in protest against the Govt. move to amend the
Banking Laws. We are placing the same here for our readers.
CIRCULAR
NO.91 17th DECEMBER, 2012
TO ALL
OUR AFFILIATES/MEMBERS:
AIBEA AND BEFI TO OBSERVE STRIKE ON 20TH
DEC.2012 - PROTEST AGAINST THE GOVT MOVE TO AMEND THE BANKING LAWS - FRATERNAL
SUPPORT BY AIBOC
The
Government is initiating moves to amend the Banking Laws with a view to open
the banking industry for private and foreign investors despite the opposition
by the United Forum of Bank Unions for a long time. We now understand that the
Parliament is considering the amendment bills placed by the Government before
the current session. It is in this background our colleagues from AIBEA and
BEFI have served a strike notice on the Chairman of the Indian Banks’
Association to observe one day protest strike on 20th December, 2012. The notice served on IBA contains the
following issues:-
a) To
protect against the attempts of the Government to hurry up with the proposed amendments
to the Banking Laws.
b) To
oppose attempts by the Government in grouping the Banks in the name of
functional co-ordination with a view to ultimately merge the Banks.
The
AIBOC which also subscribes to the same logic and oppose to these issues have
decided to extend fraternal support to our striking comrades from AIBEA and
BEFI on 20th December, 2012 by participating in the demonstrations/rallies/meetings
organized in this regard in various parts of the country.
All our
affiliates/State Units are requested to extend full support and participation
in these programmes in their respective areas wherever organized by our
striking colleagues from AIBEA and BEFI.
With
greetings,
Sd/-
(D.S.RISHBADAS)
GENERAL
SECRETARY
