“HISTORICAL FOUNDATION CONFERENCE OF
CENTRAL BANK OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION, ODISHA
The 1st triennial foundation conference of Central Bank Officers’ Association of Odisha State unit held in Bhubaneswar on 8th July 2012 was an inspiring event. The long cherished wishes of the officers of our Bank in Odisha state were fulfilled with the formation of 21st unit of our Federation. The conference was attended by large number of delegates and observers from all parts of the state, leaders of affiliates of AIBOC, the office bearers of our Federation and the managing committee members of Kolkata Zonal unit which is the parental unit. The conference was a grand success and will remain a memorable event for years to come. The conference exhibited the commitment, conviction, dedication and whole hearted involvement of the officers of our Bank in Odisha state.
The host unit had made all the arrangements of high standards and had taken care of all requirements related to the conference as well as the comfortable stay and participation of all the office bearers of our Federation, delegates and observers. The print media has well covered the important event of the Conference and has favoured with vast coverage of the press conference and functions of the Conference.
The inaugural session commenced in the glittering IDCOL auditorium at 11am. The programme commenced with a patriotic song and invocation. In his welcome address, Sri. Damodar Nanda, convenor of the Conference welcomed the gathering and gave a detailed account of the formation of Odisha state unit of CBOA. Sri. E. Ratankumar, Deputy General Manager of Bhubaneswar Region along with other dignitaries lighted the ceremonial lamp and inaugurated the Conference. In his address, he dwelt in detail upon the present position of the Bank and the expectation of the management in the field of CASA, recovery in NPA and retail credit from the officers. Some of the matters raised by the DGM were responded to by your General Secretary.
The Chief Guest Sri. Ganesh Ch Mishra, Vice President of AIBOC and General Secretary of SBIOA -Odisha in his address analysed in detail the approach of the Government, the steps taken by the trade unions to safeguard the interest of the officers and employees and the reasons for the 2 day strike proposed from 25th July 2012. He showered high encomium on the
leadership qualities of Shri. D. Nanda. The website of our Federation was launched by the Chief Guest and the website address is -http://www.aicbof.in
Sri L K Mishra, the secretary of the state AIBOC appreciated the stand taken by our Federation in the formation of separate Odisha State Unit. Sri. K.K. Sengupta, president of CBIROF congratulated the Federation on the formation of separate Unit and for such a grand and disciplined function.
Sri A K Moteyad, ex-secretary of Odisha state AIBOC addressed the gathering. The entire speech of Sri A K Moteyad was received with enthusiasm by the house. He narrated the harsh treatment of capital punishment awarded to Sri. Nanda, by the previous regime of our Bank.
He also narrated how the cardinal principles for the healthy industrial relations were trampled under foot by the regime in the year 2007. He informed that Sri. Nanda’s honesty, conviction and commitment towards our Organization have helped him to overcome the problem he had to face as a trade union leader. In his presidential address, Sri. S B Rode traced the background of the formation of Odisha unit and requested the officers to strengthen the unit by enrolling all the Officers in the State.
Sri. A R Saifullah, General Secretary of AICBOF started his address with militant slogans and mentioned that more than 1200 branches of our Bank are manned by single officer only which is the main reason for not showing appreciable growth in Agriculture and Priority Sector. As the management has already started large number of promotions and talent acquisitions, the things will improve, he observed. He thanked the management for reinstating Sri. Nanda and expressed his sincere gratitude to the state AIBOC who extended their fullest support. He recalled how Sri. Nanda has been playing a pivotal role in promoting the image of our Federation as well as the Bank in a big way in spite of the harsh treatment imposed on him. On this happy occasion, Sri. Nanda was felicitated for the sacrifice which has brought glory and laurels to our beloved organization. The inaugural ceremony came to an end with the honouring of guests and vote of thanks by Sri. Jayanto Das, General Secretary of Kolkata Unit, who thanked the dignitaries and all those who contributed to the great success of the Conference. Sri. Bipin Deshpande, Joint Secretary of our Federation compeered the entire proceedings of the conference.
In the business session of the conference, the house unanimously elected Sri. M.D. Pati, Sri Damodar Nanda and Sri. K. Prusty as President, General Secretary and Treasurer respectively of Odisha State Unit of CBOA.
Friends, the conference of Odisha unit of CBOA was historical and Grand event which has added another golden chapter in the history of the Federation. Let all of us maximise our best efforts to make the federation the only Officers’ Organization in Central Bank of India .
