As per the report appearing in The Hindu Business Line, Mr. D.P. Rath, Director, Dept. of Economic Analysis & Policy, Reserve Bank of India said that Gross NPA to Gross Advances ratio of Public Sector Banks declined from 2.2% to 2% in 2008-09. He also said that Indian Banks recovered and written off an amount of Rs.38,828 crores in 2008-09, which was higher than Rs.28,283 crores in 2007-08.
