9th BIPARTITE SETTLEMENT WELCOME – CRACKERS BURST THROUGHOUT - MEMBERS REJOICE THE HISTORIC AGREEMENT MUMBAI HELD THE FIRST GENERAL MEETING OF OFFICERS
Though it was late evening when the signing ceremony was completed at IBA Office on the 27th April 2010, due to the fact that the entire leadership of the United Forum of Bank Unions was to jointly assemble and affix their signature on behalf of their respective organisations, the members all over the country were watching with great happiness and were fully preparing to celebrate the occasion. The leadership of the Confederation when they emerged from the World Trade Center after the signing ceremony was over and the agreements were exchanged between the Chairman of IBA and our President sand General Secretary, crackers burst all over the country in particular the City of Mumbai to herald the successful completion of the 9th Bipartite Settlement.
The IBA team was led by Shri.M.V.Nair, the Chairman, and other Senior Executives of various Banks and they expressed their happiness over the conclusion of 30 month long negotiations and hoped that the 9th Bipartite will bring lasting industrial relations in the banking industry and hoped that the workforce will look forward to address the current challenges that are ahead of us. Our leaders while expressing their happiness over the conclusion of the agreement assured the management team that the Officers’ fraternity will definitely look forward to face the emerging challenges and will extend all co-operation in facing the competitive environment in an effective manner.
The leadership of the State Unit of Maharashtra had made elaborate arrangements for the conduct of the General Meeting of Officers to hear the details and share the developments from the senior leaders of the Confederation. It was a mammoth gathering even at 8.00 p.m. at Sri Matoshri Auditorium, where the Officers of all the Banks affiliated to the Confederation were present, to give a standing ovation to the leadership of the Confederation led by Com.K.S.Shetty, the President and Com.G.D.Nadaf, the General Secretary of the Confederation and to cheer for the success of the 9th bipartite meeting. The President and General Secretary of the Confederation along with Com.T.N.Goel, the Joint General Secretary, Com.K.Ramakoteshwar Rao, Vice President, Com.A.K.Motayed, Jt.General Secretary, Com.G.Muthuswamy, the Treasurer of the Confederation, Com.D.S.Bhadauria, Vice President, Com.K.D.Kheda, Advisor were present in the meeting.
Com.A.K.Motayed, the Joint General Secretary of the Confederation in his preliminary remarks gave a vivid account of the negotiations and the conclusion of the historic settlement for the benefit of the members.
Com.G.D.Nadaf, General Secretary, speaking on the occasion expressed his happiness over the confidence that was reposed by the membership across the country in the leadership and the success of the 9th Bipartite with particular reference to the 2nd Option on Pension. He also listed out the various special features of this agreement which provided certain additional benefits in particular the stagnation increments for the officers in Scale I to III. He also covered extensively the manner in which the Confederation took leadership in overcoming several hurdles that the negotiating team had to encounter and at the end of the day it is a fair settlement, he declared.
Com.K.S.Shetty, the President of the Confederation paid rich compliments for the rank and file across the country for their splendid support and also the Negotiating team of the Confederation which saw the successful conclusion of the salary revision as well as the issue of 2nd Option on Pension. The 2nd Option was a long pending demand and dream of thousands of officers all over the country which could be achieved due to the focused struggle of the Confederation and all other unions, declared Com.K.S.Shetty. He thereafter gave a detailed account of the various aspects of the salary revision and the benefits that have been achieved in the current revision.
The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Com.Shekar Kadam, State Secretary, AIBOC, Maharashtra State Unit-II.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Com.Y.S. Kumar, General Secretary, Central Bank of India Officers’ Association, Mumbai.
Comrades, the first General Meeting held immediately after signing ceremony of the 9th bipartite agreement by the leadership of the Confederation, was a thunderous success. It is an expression of solidarity and unity of the rank and file who had assembled in such a large number and waited patiently to listen to their leaders till 9.30 p.m. amidst their hectic routine in the city of Mumbai. The State Unit under the dynamic leadership of Com. Shekar Kadam deserves all our compliments on the successful holding of the General meeting of the officers in the city of Mumbai.
