Vigilance should be habit and it should not be a matter of fear. This was told by Shri J M Garg, Vigilance Commissioner, while addressing the senior executives of Central Bank of India during the Vigilance Awareness Week [from October 31, 2011 to November 05, 2011]. He elaborated various points relating to vigilance administration in Public Sector Banks. People are not fully aware of purpose of Vigilance that is why, they treat the Vigilance matter on different footing. Various doubts relating to vigilance angle in a matter were made clear to the participants. He made a lot of thrust on preventive vigilance, including participative vigilance, which is the theme this year and also launched “Cent Vigil” as a portal to facilitate the employees to lodge complaints against corrupt practice, gross irregularities, etc.
In this programme, all Zonal Offices were also connected through video conferencing and the messages from the Vigilance Commissioner were also made available to them simultaneously. Shri M V Tanksale, Chairman and Managing Director, Shri R K Dubey, Executive Director and Smt V R Iyer, Executive Director addressed the senior officials of the Bank. Shri Bharat Dave, Chief Vigilance Officer introduced the field functionaries who have been awarded for exemplary alertness towards prevention of frauds.
