Taking banking services to customers' homes, Central Bank of India launched a service through which a bank's representative will visit customers for carrying transactions and collecting cheques and drafts.
The service, christened Door Step Banking , will entail a representative going to the customer's address for picking- up and delivering cash through an arrangement with a service provider, the bank said in a press release issued.
"As a complementary service, the bank also proposes to pick-up instruments like cheques/drafts from the customer's residence/office at the time of pick-up/delivery of cash," it added.
The scheme will be initially available in Delhi and Mumbai, it said, adding the bank already provides services like Internet banking, mobile banking and SMS alerts for the benefit of customers.
"The bank is technologically well-equipped to provide cost-effective and convenient services," the bank's Chairman and Managing Director, S Sridhar, said.
